Flights to Cabo Verde

Cabo Verde is well served with direct connections from the UK (London, Manchester, Birmingham) with TUI alongside many european hubs including:

International airports are located on four islands – Sal (SID), Boa Vista BVC), Sao Vicente (VXE) and Santiago (RAI).

COVID-19

Airport Tax

All non-residents must pay a €30 ariport security tax to enter Cabo Verde payable online prior to arrival (beat the airport queues!). Complete this at least 5 days before travelling – otherwise the application may not be processed in time and you may be asked to make the payment for a second time at the border.

Having paid this fee all travellers may remain in Cabo Verde for up to 30 days without a visa. Refer to our visa section for information on stays beyond 30 days.

Getting to Boa Vista 
The island of Boa Vista (BVC) is served with multiple daily flights operated by TUI from London (LGW), Manchester (MAN), Dusseldorf (DUS), Prague (PRG), Amsterdam (AMS), Brussels (BRU).

TAP Air Portugal fly twice weekly (Sat and Mon) directly from Lisbon (LIS) with onward connections to most European hubs.

Transavia flies from Paris (ORY) weekly, whilst LuxAir does the same from Luxembourg (LUX).

Italian charter company Neos is expected to resume flights from Milan (LIN) in 2023.

Boa Vista can also be reached by way of a 30-minute internal flight from the capital Praia (RAI) or by boat (2 hours) from Sal (SID).

Getting to Sal
Sal (SID) is Cabo Verde’s best connected island.

Like Boa Vista it is served with multiple daily flights operated by TUI from London (LGW), Manchester (MAN), Dusseldorf (DUS), Prague (PRG), Amsterdam (AMS), Brussels (BRU).

Transavia flies from Paris (ORY) weekly, whilst LuxAir does the same from Luxembourg (LUX).

Additionally it benefits from regular weekly flights from Lisbon with both TAP and SATA.

Internally it has several flights a week to the capital Praia (RAI), four weekly flights to Sao Vicente (VXE) and one to the island of San Nicolau (SNE).

Getting to Sao Vicente
Sao Vicente (VXE) is well served from Amsterdam (AMS) directly with Tui and also Lisbon with TAP Portugal – although these flights remain over-priced due to the lack of route competition.

General

Seven of Cabo Verde’s nine inhaited islands have domestic ariports. The islands of Brava and Santo Antao have disused runways and can only be reached by boat.

Routes and fares

Domestic flights within Cabo Verde are operated by the Angolan carrier Bestfly. This airline currently operates two modern twin turboprop ATR 72s serving the islands via the capital Praia (there is also a direct connection between Sal and Sao Vicente). Flights are typically €30 to €90 dependent on route.
